Invasive Species
In Sequoia National Park there are a lot of invasive species. About 1 out of every eight plants species are non-native to the area. Many of these species appear to have a fairly small impact on the parks, but many others are drastically changing ecosystem structure and processes. Some species, such as Giant Reed, can completely dominate vast areas of land.Early efforts have already eradicated at least one highly invasive non-native plant species is the Yellow Star Thistle. The park have identified several other infestations that are yet in their very early stages. and have not yet made a huge impact on the park and other plant species.
